Smyrna, TN to Pensacola Beach, FL

- In Smyrna, 66° with a high of only 70°. There is 80% chance of rain forecasted for today. We had 0.18” of rain in past 24 hours. We are having to get ready for trip a thunderstorm now. We got up at 5:00 to get ready to go to Pensacola. I backed the truck up into the garage so we could load up without gettinbg wet. We picked up the Coulsons at 6:45. There was a lull in the rain so we were able to load the Coulsons up without getting wet. It was pouring down rain as we drove west of 840 to get to I-65. We got off on exit 351 at Athens (Hwy 72) and met up with Sandra and Paul for breakfast at Chick-fil-A. We then drove all the way to Exit 208 and got gas at Love's Truck Stop and got some snacks. Paul led the way down I-65. There was a Honda van that got between Paul and me so that other van pulled out to pass the other Honda van so I followed it, thinking it was Sandra and Paul. The other van got up to 85 and I couldn't keep up. Sandra texted and said we had followed the wrong van so I slowed back down. We stopped at a rest area at exit 88. Paul led us to exit 69 where we picked up Hwy 113 toward Flomaton. From 113 we took Hwy 29 to Interstate 10 to and then got off at Interstate 110 to Pensacola. We went over the bridge to Gulf Breeze where we had dinner at Peg Leg Pete's at 3:15. We checked into Portofino after dinner around 4:30. We unpacked the RAM and Honda and then played some Golf. We turned in early as it had been a long day.

David had the seafood platter, Gwen and Patsy had fish tacos, Sandra had blackened mahi, Paul had blackened tuna and Lynn had oysters. We all ate too much. But we did have fun with some photos.
- We came back to condo and sat on the balcony - no rain or wind finally. We played Farkle. It was a close game, but Patsy won after a runoff between Lynn, Sandra and Patsy.

2026 Pensacola - Day 6 - Mon, 5.11.2026
Pensacola Beach, FL to Tennessee
- Day 6
- 67° with a high of 78. There is 0% chance of rain forecasted for today. We had only 0.0” of rain in past 24 hours.
- We checked out of condo and hit the road at 7:00. We went down Via del Luna and turned on to Pensacola Blvd to I-110 to I-10 to Hwy 29. We were going to eat at Hardee’s in Flomaton at intersection 29 and 113 but they were out of biscuits so went down to Hwy 113 to McDonald’s. Food was good but ladies’ restroom was out of toilet paper. We went up 113 and picked up I-65 North. We got off at exit 93 at Loves Truck Stop to get gas. Paul’s pump locked up and had to move his van to another pump before he could get gas. Our next stop was at a rest area at exit 213. We decided at the rest stop to go and eat at Big Bob's BBQ in Decatur, AL. As we got closer to exit Waze told me to take an alternate route and get off I-65 at Exit 325 (Thompson Rd) and go over to Highway 31 and go north through Hartselle to Decatur. Paul's GPS never said there was a problem and he did not get an alternate route. Paul and Sandra had to sit a traffic, but they still beat us to the restaurant. We ate some good BBQ, but they were out of their mac and cheese. We left restaurant and took 31 over the old bridge over the Tennessee River and 72/I-565 to I-65 north. We stayed on I-65 until we took exit 59A to 840. From there it was a straight shot home.
